Our infant care provides nurturing care in a loving environment. Our program is based on each infant’s individual needs. Our teachers provide a warm and comfortable environment where babies can develop at their own pace. Infants are given ample time in many different activities that promote their development and help them achieve their natural milestones.
Our toddler classrooms are geared for curiosity and excitement as at this stage the wonderment of a child is high. Toddlers are offered a large variety of sensory activities as well as activities that promote the development of independence, social skills and self-esteem. We provide opportunities for learning through natural problem solving, activities promoting language, cognitive, fine and gross motor skills.
We provide learning opportunities that promote self-esteem development, early literacy experiences, problem solving skills, and hands-on math and science experiences. We believe that learning is about the process not the product. We involve children in projects that need planning and may take several days to complete. Children take great pride in these activities. Imagination and dramatic play is present in the classroom each day.
The Dover Children’s Center provides before and after school program for children attending Dover Public Schools. Busing is provided to our center from Horne Street, Garrison and Woodman Park Schools. We also provide care for early release days as well as school and summer vacations.
Children are welcomed off the bus and then offered a snack. Homework time is instituted as well as the opportunity to choose activities and/or outdoor play. Video viewing is limited and is utilized for special occasions or bad weather days where they cannot play outside.
